Quilt artist and textile artist, Yoshiko Jinzenji—whom we interviewed in our first issue—currently has an exhibition at Geshi, an arts and crafts gallery and shop in Nagano.
Jinzenji began her travels in the early 1960s when she moved to the United States of America. It was during her subsequent life in Indonesia that she created ‘take-zome’ bamboo dyeing—a plant dyeing technique that she had seen nowhere else in the world.
Although she has stopped working on quilts and dyeing, this exhibition is a valuable opportunity to see a huge variety of her works thus far, including beautiful fabrics and clothes, various kimonos, and an installation art piece created out of a number of large fabrics.
Make sure to visit quickly as the exhibition comes to a close very soon. We hope you’ll head to the exhibition, read our article about her work, and dive into Jinzenji’s world of fresh beauty.
