Yukiko Suto exhibition
Subsequence
2023.06.08
Famed for her pencil-drawn delicate artistic pieces that depict scenes of the everyday, Yukiko Suto’s new solo exhibition is currently open at Tomio Koyama Gallery Tennozu. Suto has often used everyday scenes as a motif in her work, such as residential houses and gardens, mountain scenes, or school swimming pools, and this exhibition depicts the scenes that inspired her during her trip to Zurich, Switzerland, in 2019. The scenery as well as the architectural details which are shaped by the Swiss landscape that are expressed through Suto’s pencil and occasional use of color is merely one part of the many things that inspired her on this trip. The landscapes in her memory are beautifully captured in her art in the moments where they flit between color and monochrome.
