We have an interview with French artist Raphaël Zarka in the upcoming vol. 7 of Subsequence. Any visitors to Paris can stop by and visit his public art piece, commissioned for the Paris Olympics, in front of the Pompidou Center. Zarka attempted to integrate geometry, skateboarding, and somewhere that could also serve as a place of rest. The result doesn’t just look like a colorful skatepark, it can be enjoyed as one too. This is just one snapshot of how much Zarka’s passion with skateboarding during his teenage years has affected his art. The work is also created out of a fascination with geometry; after all it was the work of the mathematicians and artists of the past that led to various creations, one result of this being skateparks. Zarka too continues to question and experiment with the results of their geometric research in his own art. We hope you look forward to our interview with Zarka held in his Paris studio in the next volume of Subsequence.
