"Questioned by the Moon" Yuta Nakamura Exhibition

Subsequence

2024.12.10

Ginza Curator’s Room is a series of exhibitions held in Shibunkaku Ginza, Tokyo, which welcomes a guest curator each time. For its tenth edition, the room will feature Yuta Nakamura—an artist who is known for Out of MINGEI, his research on Japanese folk crafts—and his exhibition titled “Questioned by the Moon”.

The exhibition was inspired by a fascinating story involving 19th century poet Ōtagaki Rengetsu and a counterfeit of her work. Along with Haruka Matsumoto, a woodblock artist and court sketch artist, in this exhibition Nakamura explores incidents involving copies and fakes in the modern art world and links them back to their own artwork alongside careful criticism.
