Ako Dantsu

Subsequence

2024.01.17

An exhibition on the history and legacy of Ako Dantsu, a Hyogo-based rug maker that we featured in Subsequence Vol. 4, is currently open at Ako City Museum of History. Diving into the beauty and allure of Ako Dantsu, the exhibition celebrates the 200th birthday of Naka Kojima, who spent almost three decades from the end of the Edo period conceiving Ako Dantsu. Patterns and rugs made in the years before WWII, rug designs spanning the Meiji and early Showa periods, and various other intriguing documents will be on exhibit. This is an invaluable opportunity to learn about the beauty and culture of Ako Dantsu.
