Ako Dantsu

Subsequence

2025.02.07

An exhibition showcasing and selling the works of Ako Dantsu, a rug maker in Hyogo that we featured in Subsequence No.4, returns to Tsutaya Books in Daikanyama, Tokyo, for the first time in two years.

Ako Dantsu was founded at the end of the Edo period by Naka Kojima. She spent almost thirty years making these handmade cotton rugs which are filled with her passion and creativity.

Continuing on from the previous event, a number of vintage rugs repaired by Rie Sakagami from Ako Dantsu Mutsuki, based in Ako-Misaki, as well as smaller pieces which use the rugs, books, furniture, containers, and other items will be on sale at the exhibition.

*Sakagami will be present at the exhibition from 10:00 to 17:00 on February 1st, 2nd, and 8th.

Dates: 1 February – 16 February
Hours: 9:00 – 22:00
Venue: 1F, Tsutaya Books Building 3, Daikanyama T-Site

We have reprinted the “The Mysterious Magnetism of Ako Dantsu Rugs” which published in Subsequence vol.4 at here.
