“Clothing, Food & Plants, Shelter” is a multi-part exhibition that invites visitors to consider the future of clothing, food, and shelter from the perspective of food and plants. Following the 2021 “Clothing” exhibition and its sequel, the 2023 “Shelter” exhibition, this “Food” exhibition in October 2025, marks the last part in this series.
Yuri Nomura of eatrip explained that the close connections with producers she developed as a chef led her to realize that much of our food comes from plants, and that soil is the source that supports not only plants but all life. This exhibition focuses again on rice, a plant that has shaped Japanese culture through clothing, food, and shelter, from the perspective of food.
With a particular focus on rice straw left over after harvesting, this exhibition brings together a variety of participants, including artists who bring together traditional techniques with a modern sensibility to create clothes and furniture, to potters whose interconnected work involves using the earth to grow food and also to create vessels for food. Join them in this exhibition which searches for a way toward the future.
Exhibition: Life is beautiful: Clothing, Food & Plants, Shelter— Plants become clothing and shelter that protect life, and food that sustains life. By eatrip.
Dates: October 10 – November 27, 2025
