A group exhibition featuring the painter Asa Hiramatsu—who contributed an illustration to Issue No. 3 of this magazine—is currently on view at SEIZAN Gallery in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York.

“AWAI,” the title of the exhibition, is an archaic Japanese term referring to a realm in between, where two presences meet, overlap, and interact. The three artists—painter Asa Hiramatsu, photographer Aya Fujioka, and interdisciplinary artist Marina Berio—each working through a distinct medium, engage in an exploration and articulation of the liminal spaces between dualities such as light and shadow, self and other, and reality and dream.
