“100 Years of Lifestyle Crafts” is a four-part talk eventseries by Kosuke Ide (Subsequence editor-in-chief), Yuta Nakamura (artist), and Hisaho Hanai (head researcher at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo) that explores the past century of crafts history from the perspective of lifestyle and daily living. By following the evolution of magazines, a form of media which created and continued to update the image of lifestyle, it is possible to also trace the creation and evolution of ways in which the objects ofdaily living changed thanks to what was introduced within.

What originally began as a planning meeting for an exhibition and a book organized by the handicrafts magazine Kogei Seika (Shinchosha) was later transformed into a public series of talk events, based on the idea of opening the meeting itself to a wider audience. This fourth and final session looks back on—and reflects upon—the 25 years since 1996.
