Manga artists Tokushige Kawakatsu, who did essay illustrations in vol.3 of Subsequence, and Arantoochika have conducted a super-long interview with Seiichi Hayashi, a manga artist who they both admire, which has been published as “Seiichi Hayashi: The Art of Manga”.
Seiichi Hayashi is often spoken about in regard to his manga magazine Garo, how he supported the underground comics golden age in the 1970s with Yoshiharu Tsuge, and his most famous work “Red Colored Elegy”, but these aspects alone do not fully represent his diverse nature as an artist and so this conversation attempts to give a full picture of his work. This is a exhaustive interview that is full of homages to this manga master.
Also included in this great volume are six works of manga, including work that was never published in a standalone volume, by Seiichi Hayashi.
