2022.10.17

After temporarily closing at the end of 2021, we received the wonderful news that Iwatate Folk Textile Museum would be reopening again.

Alongside the reopening, the museum has opened “Cloth that talks”, a new exhibition celebrating the publication of “Cloth that talks: Reflections on 12 years”, a book that looks back on the twelve-year history since Iwatate Folk Textile Museum first opened. Ms. Iwatate herself will be present at the exhibition, making it a wonderful and invaluable opportunity to browse the thousands of fabrics she has collected over the years.

“Cloth that talks” is an insightful book that looks back on the museum’s past exhibitions through photographs and Ms. Iwatate’s own words. Due to popular demand, it has been reprinted, so we hope you pick up a copy and head down to the exhibition in person, too. More information about the exhibition can be found on the Iwatate Folk Textile Museum official website and Instagram page.
