「Moonstruck Cultivation」

Subsequence

2026.08.18

Kosuke Ide, editor in chief of Subsequence, has begun an all-new project. “Moonstruck Cultivation” is an in-person event project that will create a space for people to make small discoveries by “touching and thinking, knowing and feeling”.

The project aims to create a small space where people can gather together thanks to a shared interest in creativity, communicate with one another, and allow ideas, techniques, memories, questions, and moments of joy to make their way through everyone in attendance.

The Noguchi Haruchika Memorial Listening Theatre in Komae, Tokyo, will act as the event venue and base for the project. This building was the former home of Haruchika Noguchi (1911–1976), the originator of Seitai in Japan and a thinker in his own right. The venue space, a 90-square-meter music room within Noguchi’s wonderful residence, is treated as a “training space for editing and translation” and is host to all sorts of wonderful events with the cooperation of Zensei Shinsha (founded by Shinya Noguchi).

The first event, DEEP LOOKING Session, will be held on August 22 where curator Roger McDonald and artist Peter McDonald will be invited as guests. (*We are pleased to announce that this event has already sold out.)

There is a range of fascinating and enjoyable events planned, so keep your eyes peeled for future updates.
