It is with great sadness that we heard the news that Maureen Doherty, founder of London’s legendary fashion brand “egg” whom we interviewed in the most recent issue (Vol.5) of Subsequence, passed away on 18 November.

It was the late Kazumi Sakata, owner of the now closed Sakata (formerly located in Mejiro, Tokyo) who also passed away last month, who first told Subsequence’s chief editor Ide about egg. Both Sakata and Maureen were incredible people whose uniquely keen eyes allowed them to secure the beautiful line up that graced their small but wonderful stores for so many years.

This year also brought the loss of Issey Miyake, designer and close friend to Maureen. We hope that these three souls, who lived their lives with conviction as they pursued love and happiness, will rest in peace.
