Artist Asa Hiramatsu, who also contributed illustrations to Issue No. 3 of this magazine, is currently holding a solo exhibition at SEIZAN Gallery in the Chelsea district of New York.

For Hiramatsu, whose quiet and contemplative paintings have long explored her own “inner landscape,” clouds have been a close companion since childhood. She has spoken of how they were like friends to her, and how she even wished to become one herself. Ever-present yet impossible to grasp, endlessly changing their form, clouds seem to reflect the shape of the mind itself — without fixed contours, always in motion.
